Joel 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
Everyone makes decisions all day long. It is a part of life. We can become so accustomed to making decisions that our lives can seem to function on auto pilot. Though some decisions may be trivial and have no effect on the outcome of our lives, others are weighty and must be carefully and thoughtfully decided. Christians are blessed in that we have a Bible that can guide us through some of the most difficult decisions. God’s Word is a great resource for direction. If you are not a Christian, it can tell you how to become one; and if you are a Christian, it tells you how to live. We do not have to make this up as we go. God’s Word is clear. Unfortunately, some folks are not purposeful with their decisions in life and end up making choices that are contrary to the Bible and Christian character. The time to make proper, godly, Biblical decisions is now. Some day that “What if?” scenario may come true. Think about this: according to Daniel 1:8, Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself. There was a “What if?” in his mind. He thought, “What if this decision not to eat of the king’s meat gets me killed?” There was no way of knowing how his authority would respond, but he did understand that he should not defile himself. He decided that, regardless of the unknown, he was going to choose to do right. There are many unknowns in life, and the time to make the right decision is now. Are you faced with a decision today? Regardless of the outcome, real or imagined, choose to do right, for “the day of the Lord is near.”
